Our School
Welcome to PHE!
Pleasant Hill Elementary (PHE) school supports student in TK through 5th grade.
Our staff is experienced, loving, and kind. We have teachers who have been teaching at PHE for 25+ years, as well as a few teachers who attended PHE as students themselves! Our teachers collaborate on a weekly basis to design, evaluate, reflect on, and improve their instruction to better support all students. We are fortunate to have a caring, connected community and an active PTA, which funds numerous programs and positions on campus. We are also proud to host three Autism specific programs, which support students in class with academic and executive functioning skills, and on the blacktop with social-emotional skills.
PHE is an AVID school. AVID means Advancement Via Individual Determination. We strive to empower students to take ownership of their education and to provide the skills to learn independently. We teach students strategies for Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading (WICOR) in order to help our Dinos be college and career ready.
Thanks to the generous work of our PTA, we have a STEAM lab and a Garden lab, where students are supported to understand the natural world as well as the scientific design process. We also have a Reading Lab that supports students in grades 1 - 3 who are behind on foundational reading skills.

Vision

At PHE, we are a community of learners who work collaboratively and embrace new ideas. Our school is strategically designed to create environments which build a strong foundation in both academics and social responsibility. Each student is provided opportunities to develop critical thinking skills and apply knowledge in innovative ways.
History of PHE
Pleasant Hill Elementary School opened in 1953, replacing the Pleasant Hill Grammar School across Oak Park Blvd (which was the first public building in Pleasant Hill, built in 1920).
Our incredible PTA was founded in 1921 and migrated to PHE when Pleasant Hill Grammar School closed.
