Dress Code

All Pleasant Hill Elementary School students are expected to dress appropriately for an educational environment.  Any clothing that interferes with or disrupts the educational environment is unacceptable.

Shirts and tops must have shoulder straps at least 1 inch thick if they are sleeveless.  No bare midriffs.  When you raise your hands and your tummy shows, your top is too short and not allowed at school. Clothing with language or images that are vulgar, discriminatory, or obscene or clothing that promotes illegal or violent conduct, such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia, or clothing that contains threats such as gang symbols is prohibited.  Clothing that exposes cleavage, private parts, the midriff, or undergarments, or that is otherwise sexually provocative is prohibited.

Tank top arm outlets should not be showing skin below the armpit.  Tops should not slide off the shoulder exposing skin or spaghetti straps.  Tight shirts, sheer shirts, low cut shirts, backless shirts. lace shirts are prohibited, and cannot be worn even under another shirt.

Shorts and skirts must not be shorter than 4 inches above the knee.  The measurement is taken from the side of the leg.  The top of a slit must end no less than 4 inches above the knee.

Underwear may not show at any time.  No cotton ribbed "A" style undershirts may be worn as a "tank" top.

Pants: Baggy pants/shorts may not be worn at any time

Accessories: Extra long belt ends hanging from the buckle as well as large chains are not allowed.

Shoes: High heel shoes and platform shoes are not allowed.  Heel height is recommended to be 1/2" to 1" or under.  NO flip-flop sandals or sandals without a strap around the heel. Your student should wear athletic shoes on days they have P.E. No shoes that have "wheels" or "spinners" in the soles are allowed.

Hats: Hats/hoods may not be worn inside any building.

Makeup and fake fingernails are not allowed.

HAIR: Hairstyles that create a distraction are not permitted. Mohawks or brightly colored hair are not permitted.  Faux-hawks are spiky hair styles that have tapered sides and only spikes from the forehead to the crown of the head.  Hair dyed with an "unnatural" color (ie., a hair color that does not occur naturally in the human species) is not permitted..

The responsibility for adhering to the dress code begins with the student and parents/guardians of the student.  If a student violates school dress code, he/she will be asked to change clothes or remove the inappropriate item.  You may be called to bring  a change of clothes.
